Loran Scholars are chosen for their character, service and leadership potential. They deeply value integrity and honesty, are curious by nature and are interested in a wide range of subjects. Furthermore, they are willing to take meaningful risks and prioritize results over appearances. Each Loran Scholar has shown a sustained commitment to service in the community, has taken the initiative to create positive changes and is interested in working for a better world.

The deadline for Loran Award applications has passed. We received 4,273 applications from across Canada, the highest number in our history. Thank you to everyone who applied!

Graduating high school or CEGEP students from coast-to-coast-to-coast, who are plan to enrol in university in 2017, should apply for the Loran Award in the fall of 2016. Please review our eligibility criteria and the awards we grant.

Renewable for up to four years, with a total value of up to $100,000, each Loran Award includes an annual stipend of $9,000 and matching tuition waiver, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and one-on-one mentorship. It is tenable at any of our 25 partner universities.

We select 30 Loran Scholars and grant up to 80 finalist and provincial awards each year. Our rigorous and personalized three-month selection process is designed to discover exceptional students who demonstrate character, commitment to service in the community and leadership potential.
