He continued to be involved in his community, as vice-president of the Canadian Federation of Medical Students and as a member of the varsity rowing team. While at U of A, he spent a summer between academic terms at the NASA Astrobiology Academy in a 10-week intensive space research and leadership training program for undergraduate science and engineering students. He also worked on a life sciences research project that will eventually go into space, visited NASA centres across the US and participated in a congressional sub-committee hearing.
In 2006, Jeeshan began his studies at Oxford University as a Rhodes scholar. He has since earned an MSc in diagnostic imaging from Oxford and an MD/PhD from U of A. Jeeshan started Hacking Health in 2012 and has most recently started Listrunnerapp.com, a digital health start-up. He also teaches as an adjunct professor of computing science at U of A.
