The Loran Scholars Foundation is proud to be supported by Air Canada, its official air transportation sponsor. Through this partnership, Air Canada connects the Loran community and supports students taking off on their journeys from finalists to alumni. The trip to National Selections marks the start of a Loran finalist’s journey. For some of these young people, it is their first time on an airplane, coming to Toronto from every province and territory for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend of reflection, peer-to-peer learning, and interviews for the Loran Award. Regardless of whether they become Loran Scholars, many finalists describe the opportunity to connect with other well-rounded, community-minded young Canadians as a transformative experience.
Air Canada’s generous support allows Loran to not only bring together finalists from across the nation, but also gather scholars, alumni, volunteers, and staff. These flights both unlock opportunity for those just starting their path and facilitate an important ongoing connection for Loran’s lifelong community. “Loran is something that we can be very proud of as Canadians, to support advancing exceptional talent from coast to coast to coast in Canada,” says Ferio Pugliese, Air Canada’s Senior Vice President, Air Canada Express and Government Relations.
Pugliese remarks on the synergy between the flag carrier and the national scholarship program, both working to expand the realm of possibility for Canadians. “There are no boundaries to where the scholars come from, and then once they complete their programs there are no boundaries to where they go — that’s evidenced by their accomplishments over the last 30 years. We’re proud to be part of that, and we’re proud to be the national airline to support them.”
