Small Axe, a play written by Andrew Kushnir (Loran Scholar ’98), was reviewed by Richard Ouzounian of the Toronto Star.

“If you are the big tree,” wrote Bob Marley, “we are the small axe, ready to cut you down.”

One of the many fascinating things about Small Axe, the Project: Humanity show now playing at the Theatre Centre is how Marley’s lyric works into Andrew Kushnir’s exploration of a white gay Canadian trying to understand the nature of homophobia in black island culture.
