Sullivan is the president of his school’s student council and chairs the parent council meetings. He also works with a school group that aims to prevent youth from engaging in tobacco products and was featured on a Canadian physical and health education podcast discussing youth vaping. Sullivan belongs to the alliance for LGBTQ+ students and has been named captain of several sports teams. He is a dedicated volunteer within his religion and community, participating in seniors’ meal delivery, hospital fundraisers and caring cupboards. He works part time in healthcare and has worked as a beach lifeguard during the summer.
Stella is the president of her school’s Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD), a club she reinstated in 2023. She will be attending a SADD conference in New Zealand to explore Indigenous initiatives and bring new insights to the North. A dedicated Inuit community leader, Stella organizes cancer fundraisers and regularly volunteers locally.
Sohaib is a student leader with a penchant for social change and inclusion. As the captain of several sports teams and the president of a poetry club, he is a firm believer in creative expression and community engagement. Sohaib strives to dismantle stereotypes by giving a voice to minority students and upholding educational initiatives that break societal norms and biases.
Sarah is co-president of her school’s student representative council. She is an active volunteer in her school’s peer buddy group for students with disabilities, a group fundraising for cancer research, as well as in a community outreach club she established. Sarah spends her summers working at Camp Glenburn as a leadership counsellor, leading campers on week-long canoeing and backpacking trips.
Sanay is the editor-in-chief of his school newspaper and chapter president of a club promoting careers in health sciences through conferences and competitions. He is the vice-chair of a regional committee that raises funds for humanitarian causes through events for high school students. He works part time as a lifeguard and aquatic instructor with his city, and volunteers at a local food bank. Sanay is passionate about bagpiping, both as a soloist and with a regional police pipe band.
Samaël is a tutor for the École des Grands organization, guiding youth towards academic success. In high school, he was involved with Café-In, a student project that provides healthy and affordable snacks in order to reduce food insecurity, and fought for the installation of gender-neutral bathrooms. After high school, he worked for his former school’s student services and at a grocery store, which helped him develop his communication and management skills.
Rocky started his school’s first French club to share his enthusiasm for the language. He serves as student council president, working to increase student advocacy. Within the community, he founded a non-profit organization that engages local students to help seniors live independently, and a fundraiser supporting the British Columbia Children’s Hospital. Rocky relaxes by playing tennis, as well as the flute and piano.
Olivia is an enthusiastic participant in her school environment club, and she helped to host a community-wide conference dedicated to preserving Lake Winnipeg. She excels in jazz, orchestra, and cross-country running. Olivia maintains high averages while working part-time. Within her school community, she spearheaded a project to increase awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women. She is also in the process of writing a children’s book about anxiety management.
Shravya helped co-found and open a Saskatoon branch of the ARTex coding society, where she works with the YMCA to offer free coding programs to youth. She started an immigrant cycling initiative in her city and helped host an online youth-mentor conference. In the summer, she runs art camps from her studio. Shravya is involved in her school’s student council, basketball team, and badminton team, and she is pursuing an IB diploma.
Shay has shared his voice and unique perspective on his school’s accessibility committee, and several youth advisory committees. He is an ambassador for the Ontario Cerebral Palsy Sports Association’s Be Boundless campaign. He is also a member of the U23 Ontario Wheelchair Basketball Team, and an Ontario Wheelchair Racer. Shay co-created and co-directs a local bowling league for students with disabilities.
