Rocky started his school’s first French club to share his enthusiasm for the language. He serves as student council president, working to increase student advocacy. Within the community, he founded a non-profit organization that engages local students to help seniors live independently, and a fundraiser supporting the British Columbia Children’s Hospital. Rocky relaxes by playing tennis, as well as the flute and piano.

As a secretary of her school’s social justice club, Nardeen has helped organize food drives, clothing drives, and other fundraising events for her community. She is a member of her school’s leadership, grad council, and yearbook teams, and has coached a Grade 8 girls’ volleyball team. Nardeen volunteers at a local retirement home, and she has worked part time for several years, including at a pharmacy and pizza place.

Magfira is a member of three youth councils that organize and facilitate community events. She leads life-skill workshops for Grades 6 to 12 girls that teach them how to be leaders and take initiative within their community. Magfira has also assisted with coordinating and distributing over 600 hygienic-care packages for unhoused people and collecting toiletry kits and handmade scarves for a local women’s shelter.

Daisy is the president of a racial equity collective at her school, organizing countless community events, fundraisers, and anti-racism workshops. She is the senior coach and founder of a traditional dance team at her school and the vice-president of an investing program. She has also been volunteering for the local library reading buddies program. Daisy has previously worked as a legal assistant and is currently a sales associate at H&M.

Corben has served his community as the youth director for the Salmo District Arts Council, as a member of the community centre’s youth advisory committee, and through various volunteer roles at the library and during seasonal events. He is also a social media marketing intern with the Nelson Overture Concert Society. Corben studies piano and teaches it locally; he is currently creating his own initiative to offer an introductory music course.

A devoted lover of the outdoors, Alessandro hails from Gwa’yi, a remote village on the BC Coast. He is a Kwakwaka’wakw historian with a passion for genealogy and has created a nationwide family tree for his community. He’s a boarding prefect at his school and has led numerous trips through its outdoor leadership program. Alessandro has spent his last three summers employed as a cultural worker. He plans to develop an athletics and culture-focused boarding school in Gwa’yi so local youth can pursue education in their home community.

Olivia is a co-founder of her school’s Truth and Reconciliation Committee and Gender and Sexuality Allyship. Passionate about theology, she audited a Christian Caregiving course, and used the transferable skills to create a support group for LGBTQ2S+ students in her school. She has worked as a summer camp leader and volunteered as a campaign manager for a local municipal campaign. In her free time, she loves to sew, write, and lift weights.

Aamna is co-founder of her school’s social justice club, where she organizes fundraisers for humanitarian aid and advocates for equality. She is the campaign founder and coordinator of The Dignity Project, a public awareness campaign aimed at destigmatizing homelessness. Aamna also plays for her school’s basketball team and her community’s soccer club. Additionally, as a member of the Youth Events Squad run by the City of Surrey, she dedicates her time to organizing and executing events for her community.

Chloe is the president of her school’s student council. She advocates for social justice within her school and runs initiatives that bring social awareness to her community’s needs. She plays competitive volleyball at the provincial and national levels, is a certified volleyball referee, and coaches for the community during her free time. Chloe also actively volunteers as a math tutor and day camp leader.

Tristan helped bring robotics to his community by introducing LEGO Robotics programs and founding two 15-member FIRST Tech Challenge teams. He leads his local Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps and coaches their marksmanship and biathlon teams. These programs provide a space for Tristan to mentor and instruct Kitimat’s youth in STEM, citizenship, and leadership. He also works as a student dispatcher for the Kitimat Fire and Ambulance Service.
