Gerardo is majoring in neuroscience for his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia. For his Loran public policy summer, he worked as a program developer and coordinator at Alberta Neuroscience, applying and expanding his skills in the neuroscience community through policy, and outreach work. On campus, Gerardo stays involved as the treasurer for MealCare, a food rescue initiative, and volunteers with Project Mind to help address mental health struggles.

Muhaddisa is pursuing a BA in political science. As an advocate for refugee rights, Muhaddisa is the co-founder of Parastoo, an initiative empowering newcomers and refugees with access to educational resources. She spent one of her Loran summers working for an organization supporting women battling homelessness after surviving abuse, and another summer in Indonesia working with an organization training community health workers and pushing policy to battle impaired growth and development in children. She is an avid public speaker, youth delegate to the UN, and enjoys reading in her spare time.

Lily is pursuing a bachelor of applied science in materials engineering at the University of British Columbia. She spent one Loran summer working with the BC Society of Transition Houses as a tech-safety research intern, where she contributed to educational resources on technology-facilitated abuse and helped develop safety tools for survivors and families. On campus, Lily is a member of the UBC Thunderbird Aerospace team, where she supports materials selection and aerostructure design. She also volunteers at a student-run café and at the Gender Empowerment Store, helping provide gender affirming resources for students on campus. Outside of academics, Lily enjoys playing badminton, teaching tap dance classes, and staying active in creative and community-based spaces.

Joesh is a public speaker and advocate for diversity and mental health. He is pursuing a BA in psychology at the University of British Columbia. As the youth ambassador for the Stigma Free Society, Joesh has reached thousands of students in more than 500 schools across Canada. He is also an athlete, TEDx speaker, school president, and co-investigator for a national health research grant. Joesh also devotes some of his time to teaching public speaking at a local school. During summer 2025, Joesh spent his time in Churchill, Manitoba, fulfilling his lifelong conservations dreams, helping to conserve polar bears and the arctic sea ice.

Graeme is currently pursuing a bachelor of applied science in engineering at the University of British Columbia. He is an active member of the ultimate community, playing for the UBC Men’s Ultimate Frisbee team, which competes in the USAU Division—College Series, while also coaching at both his former high school and for club teams. For one of his Loran summers, he worked as a policy assistant, researching and developing policy recommendations for the British Columbia provincial election.

Danya is pursuing a bachelor of arts in computer science at the University of British Columbia. She is the UBC chapter founder and president of a campus initiative that repurposes surplus food from dining halls to support food-insecure students, managing logistics and coordinating volunteers. Danya also serves as vice-president, external, for a student group supporting Black Muslim students, organizing community events and initiatives. She spent one of her Loran summers as a resource development intern, where she worked with a non-profit to develop an online resource library focused on capacity building and climate resilience for local organizations. Danya has also held a retail management role, helping to launch a new store in Vancouver.

Brynna is pursuing a B.Sc. in integrated sciences, studying cognitive systems and vertebrate and fungal biology at the University of British Columbia. She is a volunteer with UBC’s MealCare program, helping to reduce food waste and make free meals accessible to the school community. She is also involved in undergraduate research through the UBC REX program, in which she collaborates with other students to create research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Outside of her time at UBC, Brynna also volunteers with a local animal rescue, where she works on animal care and community outreach.

Aishwarya is pursuing a B.Sc. in neuroscience at McGill University with a minor in gender, sexuality, feminist, and social justice studies. She is passionate about health justice and is involved in public health research. Through her Loran summers, she explored topics such as the intersections of gender and chronic pain, as well as reproductive healthcare access for those experiencing incarceration. Aishwarya is also a Bharatanatyam dancer and is the founder of a student-led collective working to build community through dance.

Alexa is currently pursuing a B. Eng in bioengineering at McGill University. She is the founder and chair of a charity that provides free programs to girls in British Columbia, boosting their confidence in math through mentorship, games, and a collaborative social environment. She is a speaker and contributor to various STEM organizations and continues to learn how to best support women-identifying students in bridging the gender gap in STEM. She is an executive for the McGill Sign Language club and organizes ASL courses with deaf instructors to increase accessibility and equity on campus. Alexa spent one of her Loran summers in Mexico conducting social and environmental impact assessments for engineering projects and assessing policy for Indigenous consultation practices. She also conducted research on childhood diabetes and tissue engineering and is currently analyzing colonialism in global health education

Tin is pursuing a bachelor of commerce at McMaster University. A varsity wrestler and certified referee, he volunteers with youth wrestling programs and officiates tournaments across Ontario and British Columbia. He completed an internship in research and strategic communications with Play for Dignity, a nonprofit that supports underserved communities through sport. Tin has also worked as a facilitator for a summer wrestling camp, leading programming and mentoring youth.
