Stephanie is pursuing a BA in Psychology. She is a member of the Western Psychology Association and is the Community Outreach Officer of the Black Students’ Association. Previously,
Stephanie interned at Western International, where she curated resources to support underrepresented students interested in
studying abroad. During a Loran Summer, she was the Operations Intern with the Future Skills Centre.

A student of Computer Engineering at the University of Ottawa, Amelia helps lead the electrical sub-team of a group of students building an electric car to compete in an efficiency challenge. She is also the Regional Mentor for students from Northern Ontario and advocated to get pianos on campus for non-music students.

Sidney studies global resource systems with a specialization in sustainable agriculture and a minor in environmental science at the University of British Columbia. They are a senior staff humour writer at the student newspaper and were the visuals editor for the annual April Fool’s issue. Last summer, they interned at the York Region Food Network in Ontario, helping the policy team implement food security projects.

Abygail co-founded the non-profit organization BLK OWNED, whose mission is to celebrate, support, showcase and explore Black entrepreneurs in Hamilton, ON and beyond. While studying Kinesiology, she is an executive member of the Western Black Student Association and volunteers with Western’s Orientation program supporting first-year students’ transition into university. Abygail spent a Loran Summer as an Administration & Events Intern at Empowerment Squared, learning from a well-established organization that serves her community.

Toni is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Dalhousie University. For his Loran Summers, Toni has worked for Peace by Chocolate and with the Toronto Institute of Canadian Citizenship. While at university, Toni hosts a weekly radio show, operates the sound system at Dalhousie’s home games, tutors high-school students through IMHOTEP Legacy Academy, and volunteers at Hope Blooms, a local non-profit tackling food security in Halifax. He is also part of a new student-faculty team building a Dalhousie Student Leadership Academy program. Toni likes to hike, host potlucks, listen to live music, and attend independent film festivals in his free time.

Hubaib immigrated from Afghanistan in 2018 and is fluent in seven languages. He has a passion for finance, particularly investing and social impact, and is actively involved with the Executive Mentorship Program, CFAC Portfolio Management, and the University of British Columbia (UBC) Finance Association. Hubaib is also a residence advisor and served as an elected senator on UBC’s senate. Hubaib completed his public policy summer with Imagine Canada, working on core funding and digital innovation files, and his community development summer as a portfolio intern with LEAP/Pecaut Centre for Social Impact.

Tasneem was the President of her community’s Outreach Club, which supports the transition of newcomers and refugees into high school. Additionally, she planned initiatives for a national student organization, established a companionship program at a retirement residence, and initiated a program engaging the special needs community in music. Tasneem was also a lifeguard and taught swimming across Ottawa. Taseem is currently studying Health Sciences at McMaster University.

Yasmine is currently enrolled in a B.Soc.Sc. at the University of Ottawa in political science with a minor in feminist and gender studies. She spent her past summer providing psychosocial support to young mothers expelled from school due to pregnancy in Uganda. In 2023, she attended the Universities Studying Slavery Conference hosted in Halifax, NS. Yasmine volunteers on the board of directors at a non-profit in Ottawa, serves as a student mentor for newcomers to Canada and conducts research on sexual violence for a charity.
