While studying Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering at UBC, Giovanni volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver, providing support and growth opportunities for children and youth in the community. Additionally, he volunteers as a ski instructor with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports, which offers ski and snowboard programs to people of all ages with physical or cognitive disabilities. During his Loran summer in community development, Giovanni worked as a cabin leader, lifeguard, and canoe instructor at Camp Potlatch, a wilderness camp run by Boys & Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. He also organized and led camp activities for children and youth, Indigenous groups, at-risk youth, and recovering alcoholics and drug users.
