While pursuing an Honours English degree at the University of Victoria, Maya volunteers in leadership roles with her course union, mobilizes literary research, and advocates for cooperative ways of living and working. She contributes freelance journalism to UVic’s campus newspaper, and her creative writing has been published in several journals.
