While studying science at Memorial University, Kaitlyn serves as the sports, activities, and wellness representative of her residence’s House Council. She also volunteers with various outreach initiatives on campus, and in the community of St. John’s, NL. She has worked as a science outreach assistant for Women in Science and Engineering NL, started a small business selling handmade jewelry and art, and she founded the Elwood Library Committee.
Sarah is currently completing a B.Sc. majoring in psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Grenfell Campus. She has worked with the Aging Research Centre in designing research surveys and an elder abuse awareness campaign. Sarah works at the library on campus, where she assists students with using academic resources, and she also served as the Grenfell Campus student union chairperson in the 2024 winter semester. Sarah completed her Loran Summer at Champney’s West Heritage Group in a museum and an aquarium.
Madison is currently pursuing a BSc. in Ocean Sciences with a minor in Biology and a Diploma in Northern Peoples, Lands, and
Resources. As a geology intern with Shorefast during a Loran Summer, Madison was responsible for guiding educational tours of the geology centre, assisting with geology hikes, and planning
community activation events. She volunteers with science education initiatives through ‘Let’s Talk Science’, helps with
community beach and campus clean-ups, and sits on the planning committee for a scientific conference for young researchers at her university. She is the secretary with the Rotaract Club of St. John’s and is the third-year representative for OceanUs, the undergraduate ocean sciences society.
While studying Nursing, Malorie is a volunteer math tutor for elementary students and was Treasurer for her residence. For her Loran Summer in Community Development, she worked with Shorefast on Fogo Island, where she helped introduce and foster the culture and traditions of her hometown with the youth on the island.
