Burhanuddin has spent the last two years discovering what makes him tick as a person. By pursuing various types of projects and chasing many flavours of experiences, such as working for an affordable housing construction company in Kenya, he has found his love in life: using his engineering skills to build communities. which he has been actively doing within his own life. He continues to provide programs in his mosque, taking on executive roles. He also advocates for safe sleeping spaces on campus and has joined affordable housing committees.

Hannah is pursuing a BCom in business, economics, and law with a biology minor at the University of Alberta. She completed her community development summer at Windmill Microlending, where she researched different career pathways for internationally trained professionals to achieve accreditation in Canada, and developed strategies to optimize engagement from currently inactive partners. Hannah also interned with the City of Edmonton’s Data Science and Research team; she researched and operationalized data related to technology solutions. Hannah currently serves on the board of Music Unbounded—a local non-profit she co-founded in 2021, mentors a group of Grade 9 girls at her church, and leads the executive team as president of the Stollery for Youth Committee at the University of Alberta.

Maryam was the President of her high school’s Student Council and founder of the Social Justice and Student Involvement Club. She also interned at a research lab at the University of Alberta. Maryam is a volleyball player, an avid volunteer, and a tutor/mentor within her Somali community.
