Hilus is pursuing a B.Sc. in computer engineering at the University of Waterloo. He has served as vice president of finance for the Waterloo Engineering Society and is an undergraduate lead of the powertrain and controls sub-team of the University of Waterloo Alternative Fuels team, which competes in the advanced vehicle technology competition EcoCAR challenge to re-engineer an electric vehicle. Hilus has gained diverse experience through co-op positions in the tech industry, specializing in software development, consulting, and product management.
Nain is an electrical engineering student at the University of Waterloo. As a consultant on the executive team for the university’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, he provides guidance following his term as its president. In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, he also contributes to Socratica, a student-led builder community, by supporting event planning and fostering collaboration. In his spare time, Nain actively participates in the Waterloo tech innovation ecosystem, attending events like the Global Executive Summit to stay connected and be inspired by cutting-edge advancements.
Ava is pursuing a BSc in physics and astronomy at the University of Waterloo, where she mentors first-year physics students through FemPhys and supports STEM outreach initiatives that have introduced over 1,000 students in rural Ontario to robotics, engineering, and the sciences. Through Map the System, she researched the socioeconomic impacts of special metal mining in Sierra Leone, analyzing regulatory frameworks, environmental damage, and local livelihoods while collaborating with policymakers, labourers, and scholars. Ava also volunteers at House of Friendship in Waterloo, assisting community members navigating social services paperwork and connecting students to funding and mentorship opportunities.
