Ava is pursuing her BSc in Physics at the University of Waterloo and is a mentor for girls interested in pursuing a future in STEM. She is involved with Map the System, an international composition that explores the links between early-age literacy and incarceration rates. Ava volunteers at several homeless shelters in the Waterloo region and participated in her campus’s opioid harm reduction program, where she helped provide stigma-free education on harm reduction techniques.

As a Systems Design Engineering student at the University of Waterloo, Malik continues to lead the Symposium Jeunesse, a youth organization he founded in high school that aims to offer young people a space for expression, reflection, and action. He is also a member of Velocity Digital and Velocity Health, digital and health innovation incubators focused on tackling the most pressing societal needs and challenges.
