Vanessa is currently pursuing a major in computer science at Western University. She is actively involved in her Science Student Council and BlackLeaf Capital showcasing her passion for finance and science. As an analyst at BlackLeaf Capital, she gained valuable experience in financial analysis and research, contributing to Canada’s largest student-run private equity investment fund. In her role as a first-year representative for the Science Student Council, she advocates for the well-being and academic success of first-year science students. She currently works at UPStartED as a youth advisor and at McDonald’s as a team leader.
Megan is the vice president of Active Minds Western, a mental health advocacy club at Western University. She leads a team of interns and graphic designers to create publications and content that educate students on campus about mental health resources available to them. Megan has also completed an exchange at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark where she continued her medical science studies and coached two youth soccer teams in Danish during her free time.
Abygail co-founded the non-profit organization BLK OWNED, whose mission is to celebrate, support, showcase and explore Black entrepreneurs in Hamilton, ON and beyond. While studying Kinesiology, she is an executive member of the Western Black Student Association and volunteers with Western’s Orientation program supporting first-year students’ transition into university. Abygail spent a Loran Summer as an Administration & Events Intern at Empowerment Squared, learning from a well-established organization that serves her community.
Stephanie is pursuing a BA in Psychology. She is a member of the Western Psychology Association and is the Community Outreach Officer of the Black Students’ Association. Previously,
Stephanie interned at Western International, where she curated resources to support underrepresented students interested in
studying abroad. During a Loran Summer, she was the Operations Intern with the Future Skills Centre.
