Donate Today

A donation in support of the Loran Scholars Foundation is an investment in the long-term potential of values-driven students with a guiding sense of purpose, the capacity to collaborate to drive change, an enthusiasm to grow by pushing their limits, and the potential to serve and lead with integrity.

By donating today and investing in their excellence, you will launch Loran Scholars on a trajectory of inspiration and growth as future leaders, thereby developing a diverse ecosystem of leaders who accept the challenge of building a better world.

Ways to
Donate

  • Online

The easiest way to support the Loran Scholars Foundation is to donate securely online. Tax receipts for online donations are issued the day that you make your donation.

  • Monthly giving

Some donors prefer to establish pre-authorized monthly donations rather than making an annual donation to the Loran Scholars Foundation. A single cumulative tax receipt is issued in January for monthly donations made in the previous taxation year.

  • Cheque

If you would prefer to donate by cheque, please make your donation payable to the Loran Scholars Foundation and mail it to:
    Loran Scholars Foundation

  • A Gift in Your Will

Leaving a Legacy of Character, Service & Leadership

A gift in your will to the Loran Scholars Foundation helps ensure that future generations of young people across Canada have the opportunity to develop their potential to lead with integrity. Legacy gifts sustain Loran’s long-term stability and strengthen the leadership development experiences that shape scholars during and beyond their undergraduate studies.

Including a bequest is simple, and it can be adapted to your personal circumstances:

    – A general bequest helps Loran respond to emerging needs.
    – A specific purpose bequest allows you to support the Loran Award, leadership development programming, or Loran’s endowment.
A residual bequest ensures your loved ones are looked after first, with the remainder advancing Loran’s mission.

We encourage donors to consult their advisors to choose the option that best reflects their values and long-term wishes.

  • Aeroplan Points

Since we pay part of the costs for finalists to travel from their hometowns throughout Canada to Toronto for national interviews, we greatly appreciate donations of Aeroplan Points to mitigate the cost of flights. In generous sponsorship of our mission, Aeroplan presently matches up to 500,000 points per year. Donate miles here.

  • Publicly listed securities

Some donors prefer to donate publicly listed securities that have appreciated in value. The May 2006 federal budget made such in-kind donations of listed securities advantageous in terms of tax savings by exempting the capital gains from tax. If you are interested in donating publicly listed securities, please call Lily Manea at 416.646.2120 x223. To expedite these types of transactions, we encourage donors to use our donation of securities form.

  • Endowment giving

If you would like to contribute to our endowment fund, please let us know when you donate in any of the above ways. A contribution to the endowment fund must be at least $10,000. For more information, contact Meghan Moore at meghan.moore@loranscholar.ca or 416.646.2120 x222.

“We need strong, dedicated, and creative leadership to achieve positive outcomes. As Loran Scholars, young Canadians have the opportunity to learn, take meaningful risks, and determine how they can best contribute to society. By looking at their character, willingness to learn from failure, and genuine aspirations, Loran is able to discover young people with tremendous potential for a life of leadership and service.”
