Our Awards

In addition to the Loran Award, we also grant Finalist Awards, Provincial & Territorial Awards, honour citations and semi-finalist certificates to promising candidates.

Finalist Award (up to 54 per year, $6,000 each)

  • $6,000 one-time entrance award
  • Offered to finalists who attend National Selections but are not selected as Loran Scholars
  • Tenable at any accredited public university in Canada
  • Certificates are sent to the recipients’ schools in June

Provincial & Territorial Award (up to 70 per year, $2,000 each)

  • $2,000 one-time entrance award
  • Offered by our regional committees to outstanding semi-finalists who are not asked to attend national interviews
  • Tenable at any accredited public university in Canada
  • Certificates are sent to the recipients’ schools in June

Honour Citation (certificate)

  • Issued to students who distinguish themselves at semi-final interviews but are not offered any of the above awards
  • Certificates are sent to the students’ schools in June

Semi-Finalist Certificate

  • Issued to students selected for semi-final interviews who do not fall under any of the previous categories
  • Certificates are sent to the students’ schools in June
